Encoding for DVD

The encoding standard for DVD is MPEG2, which works by recording only the data that changes between frames.

So, if there's a lot of movement in your programme, more data needs to be stored, using up more space on the disc.

At TC Group, we offer you a choice of DVD encoding options to suit all standards and budgets:

Constant Bit Rate encoding - encodes at the same bit-rate regardless of the content of the programme.

One-pass variable encoding - varies the bit rate as it encodes throughout one single pass.

Two-pass variable encoding - Runs the programme first to establish which scenes require allocation of more data. The second pass encodes accordingly.

Segment re-encoding - After two-pass variable encoding Scenarist even allows the selection of specific scenes which require an even higher bit rate (eg. fast moving scenes) - giving you a perfect result.

If you're not sure which you need (or what on earth we're talking about!) then just call.
